I have been following Scott Bourne on twitter for a few months now; I have been reading his various posts about photography, lighting, equipment, etc. But his recent blog post is more than just photography; he published a blog post that really hit home to me:

Photofocus Blog: “You Think You Got It Bad?”

If you read the blog above great, if not, Scott explains that photographers need to quit complaining about their equipment and their situations. Example: “I only have this 18MP camera, I wish I had the new 21MP”. Of course it’s great to have the newest equipment, but to complain and make excuses will get you nowhere. I can’t explain how crazy it is to read this post from a photographer. I’ve been wrapped up with work and the wedding lately that I’ve not taken the time to really step back and be thankful for all that I have. I have made excuses and complained about some pretty insignificant stuff lately. All in all I hope you take this blog from Scott Bourne like I did. Life is too short to gripe and complain, if you complain about your job, be thankful you have a job thousand don’t!

I am literally writing this to myself, I have really taken things for granted.

our wedding (32 days)

my job, my friends

my camera

my health

my beliefs!

So, thanks to my good friend Bryce Buell, and his phenomenal talent; I have been completely enthralled with photography. I have had some amazing opportunities to be his assistant on photo-shoots, of course, thanks to Gabrielle for being a Miss MD. The photography deal has been an interest of mine since I was a kid, I have used old 35mm slr’s that my Father/Grand Father used way back in the day. I have a few photos around the web from some trips I have taken, etc; but nothing compares to the stuff I’ve been involved with lately. The world of fashion photography is another realm to me, I’ve never in a million years thought that I would ever be involved in it. I will still take photos of birds, trees and the like; but that tree is much prettier when you place a beautiful woman in front of it.

I want to make a updated post on this new love of mine, again I owe it to Bryce, he has shared so much with me and I plan on using every piece of it! Be on the lookout for some photo’s, I’ve had the greatest pleasure of photographing Kaitlyn Wozniak and Mae Alexander.

Announcement….We have successfully booked our wedding for August 14th, 2010. We have made a deposit and booked the Chanteclaire Farm, in Friendsville, MD. The venue is an beautiful place, not to forget the drive to Friendville was absolutely breath-taking. It’s amazing the amount of beauty you can take in while driving through the mountains. Check out the rocky gap in Western Maryland. Not only was the drive great, but the venue is within a few miles of Deep Creek Lake. I will begin to add more blog post entries as all the details come through. I can’t wait for this wedding…..forgot to mention:
Our wedding: Aug. 14th
Gabe’s brothers wedding: Aug. 21st
Ben’s wedding: Sept. 4th

I’m in the back of the car heading to a few wedding venues with Gabrielle and Ms. Carol. Gabe, and friends, have been watching wedding shows and researching online for countless hours. As exciting as it may be we can already feel the stress that results from planning a wedding. Keep us in you thoughts and prayers.
